About Spencer, IN - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

Spencer, Indiana is a picturesque town that serves as the seat of Owen County. As of 2010, just over 2,200 people called the townhome, which is part of the Bloomington Metro Statistical Area. Spencer was originally platted in 1820 and named after Captain Spier Spencer. Owen Valley Community High School is located here, and the building was the result of a consolidation of other smaller schools located in Owen County.

Spencer is a small community, so there aren’t many major attractions found here. However, outdoor recreation is plentiful at McCormicks Creek State Park, and Owen Valley Winery features many unique local wines. The Tivoli Theatre and Cinema 67 are popular destinations for families with children, many of whom will also want to stop for a sweet treat at Diamond K Sweets & More. Many restaurants are also found within Spencer, including the Hilltop Restaurant, El Ranchero Authentic Mexican Restaurant, and Birdhouse Restaurant.

The climate of Spencer is categorized as humid subtropical, and residents should be prepared for varied weather conditions throughout the year. Summers here are hot and humid, and when thermostat readings climb into the 90s, most residents seek out the comforts of their home cooling systems. Spencer HVAC specialists can help residents to select the right central air conditioner that will keep their homes cool throughout the season.

Winter weather in Spencer is mild to cool, and average daily highs reach about 38 degrees Fahrenheit in January. Snowfall and freezing rain are also both possibilities throughout the season, so it is crucial that residents prepare with an efficient home heating system. Modern furnace and boiler efficiency is measured by AFUE, which is a ratio of the annual heat output compared to the total fuel energy consumed by the system in a year. Systems with higher AFUE ratings are more efficient, and periodic maintenance to take care of non-insulated or leaking ducts will further reduce heating costs.
